Hamad Bin Khalifa University PhD Funding (HBKU Graduate Scholarships)

In a PhD, you pay no tuition fees and you receive a monthly allowance of QAR 9,000. A return flight is also paid for international students.

Who can apply

All countries. Check the exact list of countries on the official page.

  • Be admitted to a PhD programme of the university
  • Study full time
  • Work as a research or teaching assistant (about 10 hours per week)
  • Do not work more than 40 percent of a full time job
  • Housing is not paid by the university
  • The scholarship is reviewed every year based on your results

How to apply

  1. Choose your PhD programme on the university website
  2. Apply online before 1 February 2027
  3. There is no separate scholarship application. You are considered automatically at admission
  4. Receive the decision by email
