HBKU PhD scholarship stipend: what you receive
An international PhD student at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) receives QAR 9,000 per month for 45 months. Tuition fees are waived and you get one return flight, but you pay for your own housing.
What the money covers
The official page gives the stipend as QAR 9,000 per month, or QAR 108,000 per year, for 45 months. In the programmes it describes, tuition is waived at 100 percent, and international doctoral candidates get one inbound ticket when they start and one outbound ticket when they graduate.
What you must do in return
The stipend requires you to work as a research assistant, at least 10 hours a week. Awards depend on available funds. You cannot hold a job above 40 percent of full time hours.
HBKU does not pay your housing. You cover it from your stipend or your own money, so plan your rent before you accept.
