Eiffel scholarship requirements: who applies and what is not covered
Only a French higher education institution can submit your application, and a file sent by you alone is declared ineligible. The scholarship pays EUR 1,200 per month for a Master's and EUR 2,100 per month for a PhD, and it does not cover tuition fees.
Who submits the file
You first need a French institution that agrees to support you. That institution applies for you through Campus France. Applications sent directly by students or by foreign institutions are declared ineligible.
Your institution sets its own internal date, which is earlier than the national one.
What you receive
The monthly amounts have applied since January 2026. The scholarship also includes international and national transport, insurance, help finding housing and cultural activities.
Tuition fees are not covered at either level, so plan how you will pay them.
Duration and rules
The page gives durations from 12 to 36 months depending on the programme. For the age limit and the exact deadline, read the rules of the year on the official page.
If tuition worries you, the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships have a similar gap.
